Is the password generator free?

Do my passwords stay private?
Always. Every password is created locally in your browser and nothing is ever sent to a server, logged or stored. You can even disconnect from the internet and it will keep working.
How are the passwords generated?
The tool uses your browser's cryptographically secure random number generator, the same class of randomness trusted for security keys. You control the length and which character sets to include: uppercase, lowercase, numbers and symbols.
What does the entropy score mean?
Entropy, measured in bits, estimates how hard a password is to guess. More length and a larger character set raise the entropy. As a rule of thumb, aim for at least 60 bits, and 80 bits or more for accounts that matter most.
Can I create several passwords at once?
Yes. Pick 5, 10 or 20 in the quantity selector to generate a batch instantly, then copy them individually or all at once. It is handy when setting up multiple staff or store accounts.
What is a passphrase and should I use one?
A passphrase strings several random words together, like coral-river-token-mint. It is easier to remember and type than a symbol-heavy password while still being very strong. Switch to the Passphrase tab to build one.
